Carissa carandas is a hardy, evergreen, thorny shrub prized for its glossy foliage, fragrant white star-shaped flowers, and small pink to deep purple fruits. Widely grown in tropical and subtropical regions, the tart fruits are commonly used in pickles, jams, jellies, and preserves. It is also an excellent choice for hedges due to its dense, spiny growth and drought tolerance.

Germination Tips:

  • Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12–24 hours before sowing.
  • Sow seeds 1–2 cm (½ inch) deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix.
