Short Description:
Citrus grandis (more commonly classified as Citrus maxima) is the largest citrus fruit species, producing huge, sweet to mildly tangy fruits with thick, aromatic rinds. This evergreen tree features glossy green foliage, fragrant white blossoms, and is an excellent addition to home orchards and tropical or subtropical gardens. Pomelo is also one of the ancestral species from which many modern citrus varieties have evolved.

Germination Tips:

  • Use fresh seeds for the best germination, as viability decreases with storage.
  • Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12–24 hours before sowing.
  • Sow seeds 1–2 cm (½ inch) deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix.
  • Maintain a temperature of 22–30°C (72–86°F) and keep the soil evenly moist.
  • Germination usually occurs within 2–6 weeks under warm conditions.
  • Place seedlings in bright light and protect them from frost while they are young.
