Schizolobium parahybum is a spectacular, fast-growing tropical tree native to Brazil. It is admired for its tall, straight trunk, huge fern-like leaves, and striking yellow flowers that bloom in large clusters. Often reaching 20–40 meters in height, it is widely planted as an ornamental, shade, and reforestation tree in tropical and subtropical regions.

Germination Tips:

  • Scarify the hard seed coat by nicking it with a file or soaking it in hot (not boiling) water for 12–24 hours.
  • Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  • Maintain a warm temperature of 25–30°C.
  • Germination usually occurs within 1–4 weeks after proper scarification.
  • Transplant seedlings carefully, as they grow very rapidly and develop a strong taproot.
